Dear Friends,

I still can't believe that I am having to write this. There has been trouble in the country of Mali, particularly now in the capitol city of Bamako. Many of you know that we have an apartment up there that we use for administrative purposes and are often up there for various things. Last night the military staged a coup in Mali. We've heard from missionaries there that they are safe but are under curfew. Those traveling have been warned not to take out 4x4 vehicles in particular as they are being targeted by military that have already looted the presidents palace. To read more, you can follow at:

We are very thankful that our daughter, Andrea, is flying into Conakry tomorrow. Had we not been down here for our eyeglass clinics, we would be waiting for her right now in Bamako. We've heard that the airport is closed now as are the borders. We haven't heard what other missionary children will be doing that normally fly home to Bamako. Four girls from Andrea's dormitory are waiting to hear.

Please keep this in prayer! Pray that order can be established quickly. We're not sure how this will affect things in the future as far as travel to that country, etc. We pray that all remain safe and that this doesn't get out of hand.

Pray also for the children that are flying home tomorrow from Dakar Academy, for safe travel and great visits with their families!

Thanks,

beth for both of us

Hello! We recently returned from a joint Lutheran Bible Translators (LBT) & LCMS missionary retreat along the lovely Ghana coast. It was a great time of rest and renewal and also a great time to connect with other missionaries. We have been back in Siguiri for a week now and have treated many new people on our porch. Yesterday we even saw the most senior Imam of Siguiri. We pray our time with him was a small glimpse of who Jesus is.

Please pray with us:
Thanksgiving that the 'Jesus & Muhammad' book study with Peter & Allan continues to go well. Our new night watchman has even asked if he can join the book study next week!
Thanksgiving that a chief from a fishing village near Siguiri visited us this week & invited us to his village. He said he heard we have visited other villages and is eager to welcome us. Pray also that we can make a visit there soon.
Thanksgiving that the project was approved to build an outreach center and make other improvements to the "Growing in Grace Lutheran Church" land just outside of Siguiri. Pray that funds will be given soon so that work can begin.
Pray for the woman whose son was taken from her and brought to Sierra Leone, as there is still no resolution to this issue.
Pray for Mali, the country to our North where we travel to regularly. Yesterday there was a coup d'etat and rebels are claiming that they are now in control of the country.
Hot season has officially arrived in Northern Guinea - pray for our health and stamina in these higher temperatures.
